Our Compliance & Certifications

AWMS maintains all required certifications, licenses, and memberships to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Active Waste Management Certifications Include:

Certificate of Liability Insurance

A Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) is a one-page document that proves your business has active insurance coverage. It outlines key details—such as policy limits, numbers, and effective dates—and is often required by clients, vendors, or landlords before work can begin.

A Certificate of Ohio Workers’ Compensation confirms an employer has an active workers’ compensation policy through the state fund. It includes the policy’s effective date and coverage details and must be posted at the workplace for employees to view.

A US DOT Broker Authority License refers to your MC Number issued and listed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Under federal hazardous material transportation law (49 U.S.C. 5101 et seq.), anyone offering or transporting specified types or quantities of hazardous materials—including hazardous waste—must file a registration with the U.S. Department of Transportation and pay an annual fee.

A New Jersey A-901 License is a required NJDEP-issued authorization for any business transporting solid waste or contaminated soil/fill in New Jersey. It involves an extensive approval process—including background checks, financial disclosures, fingerprinting, and training—to prevent illegal dumping. Only after completing this process can companies receive their permits and vehicle decals.

A Certificate of ISNetworld Membership isn’t a physical document—it reflects your company’s “Compliant” or “Verified” status in ISNetworld after meeting required safety, insurance, and training standards. This status shows clients you meet their compliance expectations and are eligible to bid on their projects.

A contractor or supplier that has successfully completed Avetta’s rigorous prequalification process demonstrates compliance with a company’s safety, insurance, and operational standards, granting access to major industrial contracts.

A Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) in the state of New Jersey is a required permit for solid waste haulers authorizing a contractor to bid on contracts and collect or dispose of waste, ensuring that they are financially responsible, properly licensed and meeting regulatory standards for services and rates.

The New York Business Integrity Commission (NYBIC) currently regulates companies operating in the trade waste industry and New York City’s public wholesale markets. This certification confirms that a company has passed a thorough background review, meets strict regulatory and ethical standards, and is authorized to legally operate in these regulated industries within NYC.
